Overview

Located in the Mahon peninsula, the concept of Jacobs Island began in the late 20th century and has been expanding to this day. The location boasts an impressive 50 acres site with an extensive shoreline that offers unparalleled views of the Cork Harbour with access to Cork’s new greenway from Rochestown to Cork City. Since 2003 the development has been developed in a series of phases, compromising over 600 units across detached/semi-detached houses and apartment blocks. Jacobs Island Master Plan encompasses a mixed-use residential and retail development over a 50-acre site. The height range of these blocks varies from 6 to 25 stories. The plan offers a hotel, Office Space, a large retail unit, and ancillary crèches. Location is key to Jacob’s Island–Cork City is just a 15-minute drive and Cork International Airport is just a short 10-minute drive due to the accessible transport links such as the South Link Road and the Jack Lynch Tunnel.

For cycling enthusiasts, the new upgrade Cork City to Passage West Greenway provides a safe, high-quality transport link for residents to cycle to either Cork City or Passage West. This new greenway will encourage the shift towards cycling for those who wish to go to the city centre for work or leisure purposes. Residents are surrounded by a wide range of amenities such as Mahon Point Shopping Centre, Munster’s largest shopping centre with over 60 stores with a state-of-the-art Omniplex13screen cinema, Mahon Point Retail Centre plus the employment hub of CityGate is all within a 10-minute walk distance.
