An Taoiseach opens Joe McHugh Park, Jacobs Island

Cork's newest public park was officially opened today by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern TD. The park was handed over to the city council by the McCarthy family at a ceremony attended by the Taoiseach, Deputy Lord Mayor Jim Corr, Cork City Manager, Joe Gavin, local dignitaries and members of the McHugh family.

Joe McHugh Park was developed by McCarthy Developments as part of the overall development of the highly acclaimed Jacob's Island residential scheme. It is dedicated to the memory of the late Joe McHugh who was City Manager of Cork between 1973 and 1984.
